THE GIRL WHO WAITED BY THE WINDOW
PART 1 — The Girl in the Rain
“Every night at exactly midnight, Emma saw a little girl standing outside her window. The strange part was… the little girl looked exactly like her.”
Emma had lived in the old house for only three weeks.
It belonged to her grandmother, who had passed away earlier that year.
The house was beautiful during the day.
But at night, it felt different.
The floor creaked by itself.
Doors sometimes opened without anyone touching them.
And every night at midnight, Emma heard the sound of a little girl crying outside her bedroom window.
At first, Emma thought it was an animal.
Then one rainy night, she finally looked outside.
A little girl was standing in the garden.
She was barefoot.
Her white dress was completely soaked.
And she was staring directly at Emma.
Emma slowly opened the window.
“Are you okay?”
The girl didn’t answer.
She simply raised one hand and pointed toward the old tree behind the house.
Then she whispered:
“Please don’t let him find me.”
Emma’s heart began racing.
“Who?”
The girl looked terrified.
Before she could answer, the bedroom lights suddenly went out.
When they came back on—
the girl was gone.
The next morning, Emma searched the garden.
Under the old tree, she found a small red shoe buried in the mud.
She took it inside.
On the bottom of the shoe was a name.
EMMA.
Emma stared at it in disbelief.
Then she heard a child’s voice behind her.
“You found my shoe.”
Emma slowly turned around.
The little girl was standing in the hallway.
But this time, she was smiling.

PART 2 — The Photograph
“Emma thought the little girl was a ghost. Then she discovered a photograph that proved the girl had been part of her family.”
Emma ran into the living room and locked the door.
The little girl stood silently on the other side.
“Who are you?”
No answer.
Emma looked through the crack beneath the door.
The girl’s feet were no longer touching the floor.
She was floating.
Emma screamed.
The girl disappeared.
Later that morning, Emma searched through her grandmother’s belongings.
Inside an old wooden box, she found dozens of photographs.
Most showed her grandmother when she was young.
Then Emma found one that made her blood run cold.
It showed her grandmother standing beside a little girl.
The girl was wearing the same white dress.
And holding the same red shoe.
On the back of the photograph were three words:
“My daughter, Emma.”
Emma dropped the photograph.
Her grandmother had never had another daughter.
Or so Emma had always believed.
That night, Emma found an old diary.
She opened it with shaking hands.
The first page read:
“If Emma ever sees the girl in the window, she has returned.”
Emma continued reading.
Years ago, her grandmother had a daughter named Emma.
The little girl disappeared when she was six years old.
Everyone believed she had drowned in the river behind the house.
But her grandmother never believed it.
She wrote that someone had taken the child.
And every night afterward, the little girl appeared at the window.
Emma turned another page.
The final entry was written only one day before her grandmother died.
It said:
“I finally found where they buried her.”
Suddenly, Emma heard footsteps upstairs.
Slow footsteps.
Step…
Step…
Step…
Then a child’s voice whispered from the hallway:
“He knows you found me.”
Emma looked toward the staircase.
At the top stood a tall, shadowy man.
And in his hand…
was a shovel covered in fresh mud.

PART 3 — The Last Knock
“Emma finally learned what happened to the little girl—but the truth was far more heartbreaking than the ghost story.”
Emma ran.
She escaped through the back door and sprinted toward the old tree.
The little girl was standing beneath it.
She pointed toward the ground.
“Here.”
Emma grabbed a shovel.
She began digging.
After several minutes, the shovel struck something hard.
A small metal box.
Inside was a child’s bracelet and a letter.
Emma opened the letter.
It was from her grandmother.
“My little Emma, I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.”
Emma’s eyes filled with tears.
The truth slowly became clear.
The little girl hadn’t been haunting the house to hurt anyone.
She had been waiting for someone to find her.
The shadowy man had been her grandfather’s brother.
Years ago, he had caused the girl’s death and hidden the truth.
Emma looked toward the house.
The shadowy figure was standing in the doorway.
He slowly walked toward her.
But before he could reach the tree, the little girl appeared between them.
For the first time, Emma saw her clearly.
She wasn’t frightening anymore.
She looked like an ordinary six-year-old girl.
She smiled at Emma.
“Thank you for finding me.”
The man suddenly screamed.
The wind became violent.
The old tree shook.
And the little girl disappeared into a cloud of white light.
When the police arrived the next morning, they found the evidence beneath the tree.
The truth about the little girl’s disappearance was finally revealed.
Emma buried the red shoe beside her grandmother’s grave.
For the first time, the house became completely silent.
No footsteps.
No crying.
No midnight knocking.
Emma thought the nightmare was finally over.
Until one year later.
On a rainy night, Emma heard—
Knock…
Knock…
Knock…
She slowly walked toward the window.
A little girl was standing outside.
But this time…
it wasn’t the same girl.
It was a little boy.
He looked at Emma and whispered:
“My sister told me you could help me too.”
Emma’s heart stopped.
Behind the boy stood dozens of children in white clothes.
All of them were waiting.
